Gatlinburg has also become a favorite wedding and honeymoon
spot. There are a number of wedding chapels |
available and a bride and groom could not find a
more romantic setting for that special event.
Each season of the year hosts special events that are new and
different and always a delight to experience. There is the Spring
Wildflower Festival, the famous Gatlinburg Craftsmen’s Fair,
The Mountain Harvest Festival, and the sparkling lights of Winterfest.
In the 1800s the hills of east Tennessee around Gatlinburg, were sprinkled with
pioneer families who built homes on the rocky soil near roaring streams. Little
did they know that these mountains would blossom into one of the most visited
and highly favored resorts not only in Tennessee, but anywhere.
During the three-month Springfest celebration that begins in early
March and continues into the second week of June, visitors witness
Gatlinburg’s transformation into spring when the city’s
streets overflow with baskets of beautiful blooming flowers and
plants. Pansies, daffodils, tulips, mandevillas, bougainvilleas,
lantanas, scaveolas and wave petunias are among the many varieties
of flowers seen throughout the city. Live entertainment can be
found along sidewalks, adding a festive flair to the time-honored
Downtown Parkway stroll. |
